This week we are working on our time line project. We have to compose a presentation using technology, about a leader that we chose. Some options are Powerpoint, Comic Life comic, poster, Smart Notebook, or make a voicethread. In the end we will present our project.
Also, we are learning about environments.

last week we had spring break but there is still snow!! we are almost done with our poetry unit. Mrs. Ament said that we are entering poems in a poetry contest at the Dakota County Library.
we had to fill out a sheet that has information about our selves. the mca test is coming up next month .

Literature Circles

Hola!

This week Mrs. Ament made Lit Circle groups. There are three groups, each with a different book. Within the three groups there smaller groups with a leader. The leader assigns the jobs to everyone and him/herself. The jobs are: * The Connector * The Questioner * The Summarizer
* The Word Wizard and * The Illustrator. The books we were assigned to read are: Love That Dog, Locomotion and Home of the Brave. We all really like the books so far.

In writing we are working on poems.List poems, small things poems and objects, and a poem of your choice. A list poem is were you think of something and you list stuff. your creation can turn into a list poem!

In gym we are doing gymnastics. Like cartwheels and round offs and partner stuff. last week we tried doing pyramids with are partner and groups. we also did a class pyramid(it was not easy)

I will be telling about a lot of stuff not just about 5th grade but also the whole school.
Tomorrow is pajama day so when you wake up stay in your P.J.'s!Geography night is next tuesday! there is a lot of fun things you can do!like....Go to 5th grade area and look at the ancient muesums or.....go to kindergarten and see their globes or.......See a real live wallaby(Thats a small kangaroo)!we are learning about poetry! poetry can be really funny or sad!

The valentine party was super fun. we played scooter-basketball and we made cards for soldiers and we had snacks like goldfish and graham crackers and the last thing we did was play unscramble the words for candy we had a blast.

Today our fifth grade had our lightning tournament. The boys were Tommy, Jake, Max, Jack, Evan, Arron, Jack and Taylor. The order of the winners was the order above. It was a close finish between the top four. But Tommy kept on making his free throws to get three people out in a row.
The girls were Jasmine, Camryn, Jacqueline, Autumn, Maddie, Tsola, Michelle, Jaiydan. The winner was Autumn.

Yesterday we did our Greek and Roman museums. The artifacts in the museum showed art, politics and daily life. Many classes and parents showed up to see our museum, which lasted from 2:15-3:15. Some of the artifacts were soldiers, musical instruments, and sculptures.

Tonight some of us are also going to Buck Hill. We are getting on the bus after school to go tubing its going to be so much fun.

This week we have been learning about the ancient civilization of the Greek and Romans. We just finished the Greek unit by making a poster. This one is on Ancient Greek Art. We went in groups of two or three and picked a topic by drawing sticks. We researched our topics and created posters like this one. Other topics include mathematics, architecture, Olympics, medicine, mythology and more! Today we started our Roman unit. We watched a video about the ancient Roman times. Some information we learned is... The Romans developed the Greek ways and methods and made them more resourceful.

This week we wrote letters to our pen pals. Our pen pals live in Africa. We are doing a project where we raise money for a clean water source for the kids we are writing to.
In gym we just finished our dodge ball unit. The b's are starting the hockey unit tomorrow. I think it will go really well. can't wait.

We have learned about their enemies and their friends. we are soon going to start getting information to start our reports. We where all intrigued to learn about their multi-god religion.

hello and Merry Christmas!! today in music we learned how to play a beat that goes with a poem. some people played the big xylophone and a small ones called the glockenspiel. Learning how to play the xylophone is really easy then learning how to play other instruments and its every to get the sound you want its a great instrument!
